Once Upon a Story comes to Theatre of Marcellus thanks to Little Steps

A magical weekend at the Theatre of Marcellus saw Little Steps Preschool transform cherished children's stories into a vibrant, music-filled celebration of imagination, creativity, and pure joy.

This past weekend, the children and staff of Little Steps Preschool proudly presented Once Upon a Story at the Theatre of Marcellus at Emperor’s Palace.

Melissa Savage, principal of Little Steps Preschool, said this was no average bedtime story or school concert, but rather a whimsical tale brought to life by the most enthusiastic little people.

“The beloved books and characters of Julia Donaldson were reimagined into a world where the pages flew off the shelf and onto the stage.

Friends and family were treated to a high-energy, foot-tapping celebration of creativity that included a roof-raising battle with Drum Café.”

Forget the quiet library vibes; the music was fast and fun, the props cheekily vibrant, and the costumes were Broadway-worthy.

She added that incredible performers, from their teeniest babies to their Grade Rs, blew everyone away with a whirlwind of choreography and giggles that proved every story is better with a beat.

“Little Steps gratefully acknowledges the publishers, Pan Macmillan Children’s Books and Scholastic UK, for granting permission to use the cover images of the selected book titles featured in our concert.

“While the production was independently presented by Little Steps, their assistance with these resources helped enhance the visual storytelling of the event and supported the celebration of children’s literature.

“This was a unique, rhythmic journey through the stories we love, told with magic and unadulterated joy.”
