Paulshof residents answer call to provide clean-up team with personal protective equipment
After highlighting the challenges of working without adequate protective equipment, the PRRA-supported maintenance team has received new safety gear, thanks to donations from residents, helping them continue their work to keep Paulshof clean.
The Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association’s (PRRA) maintenance team is now better equipped to carry out its work after residents responded to an appeal for improved safety gear.
The team, which works every Tuesday maintaining public open spaces across Paulshof and supports the volunteer-led SpruitSpritz initiative with monthly clean-ups along the Braamfontein Spruit, recently received new personal protective equipment through donations from the community.

The update comes after members of the maintenance team shared the challenges they faced while carrying out their work, including removing cables and wires by hand and working without sufficient protective equipment.
Environmental committee member Cheyenne King said the response from residents has made a meaningful difference. “Our guys work with us every Tuesday, and although they are only with us once a week, they make a huge difference in helping us maintain Paulshof as the beautiful community we are all trying to preserve.
“They’ve been with the PRRA for many years. During that time, it became clear that their uniforms and safety gear needed to be upgraded.

“We reached out to residents for support, and while we would still welcome more assistance, we have had generous supporters donate funds. Thanks to those contributions, we’ve been able to provide the team with new safety boots, overalls, raincoats, sun hats, earmuffs for hearing protection when using brush cutters, and protective eyewear.”
She added that the new uniforms have also been branded to raise awareness of the PRRA’s work and encourage further community support. “We’ve branded the uniforms to help get our name out there and to show residents the work that is being done in the hope that more people will support our efforts.”
The maintenance team expressed their gratitude to everyone who contributed towards the new equipment. “We would like to thank everyone who donated towards our safety gear. Now we can continue keeping Paulshof clean while being properly protected. We really appreciate the support from the community.”
