Paulshof residents fight to keep Braamfontein Spruit clean
The Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association is calling on residents to volunteer their time and support ongoing efforts to maintain the suburb's green spaces and protect the Braamfontein Spruit from pollution.
The ongoing battle against litter pollution in the Braamfontein Spruit continues as volunteers and community organisations join forces to keep the river and surrounding green spaces clean.
The Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association (PRRA) employ a small team that works weekly across Paulshof, maintaining public open space and helping to keep the area looking clean and welcoming.
Their efforts extend across the suburb, from the eastern and central areas beyond the K60 corridor to the western sections of Paulshof.

The project receives support from SpruitSpritz, a volunteer-driven initiative
which focuses on removing litter and debris from the river system between Witkoppen Road and the confluence near Achter Road Park.
According to PRRA committee member June Julyan, the amount of rubbish flowing into the river remains a major concern.
“We are constantly working to keep Paulshof clean, safe and attractive for everyone who lives here. Through our weekly maintenance programme and monthly SpruitSpritz clean-ups, we are doing our best to protect the Braamfontein Spruit and the surrounding green spaces.

“However, keeping the area clean is a community effort, and we would love to see more residents getting involved and helping us preserve this beautiful riverfrontage.”
Residents interested in making a difference are invited to attend the next SpruitSpritz clean-up event:
- Date: June 6, 2026
- Time: 08:00 – 10:00
- Meeting Point: Access via Milcliff Road, Paulshof. Take the service road between Willowbrooke and Bryanston Manor complexes to the Braamfontein Spruit.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring thick waterproof gloves, spiky garden hand tools, drinking water, and to leave valuables at home.
