Volunteer team gives Douglasdale Police Station parking area a five-hour makeover

Nine volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean the Douglasdale Police Station parkade, transforming the space while encouraging the community to support future clean-up initiatives.

A group of dedicated volunteers spent their weekend giving the Douglasdale Police Station parking area a much-needed makeover, removing weeds, sweeping, and collecting litter during a five-hour clean-up.

It was led by Lovemore Robson, the founder of Lovemore Foundation, as part of an ongoing effort to improve public spaces across Fourways.
The team of nine volunteers worked tirelessly to restore the space after finding it in a neglected state.

“The motivation was to see the parking area clean and to put extra bags there for people to use. We found the parkin area filthy, but the team did an amazing job removing weeds, sweeping and picking up litter.”

According to Robson, initiatives like these are about much more than cleaning public spaces. “It is very important because we are happy to see community areas clean while also creating employment,” he said.

“My big message to the Fourways community is that they must please donate to support our clean-ups. The encouragement and support we get from companies and individuals is what keeps us going.”
