DALESIDE - 100 Gauteng paddlers tackled the rapids of the Klip river
Despite some cold temperatures in previous days, 7 July was another mild pleasant Gauteng winter day as more than 100 Gauteng paddlers tackled the rapids of the Klip river from the Heidelberg road bridge near the R59 in Daleside.
Corneil Jacobs, who lives in Fourways and works as an accountant, and his partner Gareth Duggan enjoyed their first river race achievement.
Jennie Dallas from the Gauteng Canoe Union said although the pair tipped into the water on a few occasions, the cold water did not dampen their enthusiasm and they finished the race successfully in 3 hours 24 minutes.
