Boxers face off for Gauteng title
FOURWAYS - World Boxing Events and Real Steel productions held a press conference at Cheerleaders sports bar in Waterford shopping centre for their Prizefighters at Presleys boxing tournament.
Eight talented boxers will be competing. They are Deon Coetzee, Fikile Nyalunga, Prince Ndlovo, Morne Bothma, Transvaal Mbulelo, Alfonso Tissen, Sibusiso Zingane and Bevan Beckmann.
The title fight for the night is set to be a thrilling one between Coetzee and Nyalunga who will be fighting for the Gauteng Cruiser Weight title. Coetzee fought Nyalunga at the beginning of 2012 and lost by only one point. Since then he has been undefeated.
Nyalunga also has a point to prove as he recently lost his South African title to Daniel Bruwer. Nyalunga wants to win against Coetzee because winning the Gauteng title will set him up for a re-match with Bruwer. Nyalunga certainly has the fighting spirit. He said pointedly to Coetzee, “I’m not scared of you. I’m not scared of anybody.”
Another re-match to watch out for on the night is between Ndlovo and Mbulelo. Ndlovo is currently ranked number six in South Africa and he sees his fight with Mbulelo as a stepping stone to the South African championship. Mbulelo promised to give the crowd a very good show. “They don’t call me slow poison for nothing,” he said.
The tournament will be held at Presleys in Boksburg on 27 November.
