FOURWAYS - Employees at the City Lodge in Fourways, Ryan Ruthven and Henri Joubert are competing in the gruelling Joburg2C mountain bike challenge for charity.
When Ruthven and Joubert are not in the office you would most probably find them out on their mountain bikes, training for the Joburg2C event which takes place from 25 April till 3 May. The event starts in Heidelberg, Gauteng and finishes in Scottburgh, in KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. Ruthven heads up the hotel group’s IT department while Joubert is the group’s international business manager.
While City Lodge is sponsoring their participation in the race the two riders are also independently raising money which will be donated towards the Nelson Mandela Day Library Campaign. The campaign transforms old shipping containers into well-stocked libraries for needy school children around the country.
“We’re hoping to raise R 50 000 from friends, family and associates which will go a long way towards financing and stocking a container library,” Ruthven said.
Both riders are looking forward to their extreme adventure.
