Human second at Chili Bite River Race

FOURWAYS - Canoeist Cornelis Human managed to complete the Chili Bite River Race in just over three hours.

The race, hosted by Victoria Lake Canoe Club, was an endurance event on the Klip River from Daleside to the Three Rivers, held on 14 June.

The 40km challenge was a preparation race for those paddlers training for the Berg River, a 220km, four-day Ultra Marathon event taking place later this year.

The Chili Bite race attracted 23 single canoes and six doubles. Some of the canoeists wanted additional mileage training for stamina and endurance improvement.

There was also a shorter 18km race incorporated, for those new to the sport and less-fit paddlers.

Human finished in second place in 3:2:00.
