Last year, when the Bridgestone Production Car Championship visited the Phakisa Freeway, Bonafede was the quickest Audi driver around the 4.24 km track.
When the series returns to the circuit near Welkom on 2 August, he will be looking for a repeat performance.
At the halfway point in the 2014 series, Audi Sasolracing driver Bonafede lies third on the championship log, 28 points behind the leader.
With a maximum of 35 points available at each of the four remaining rounds, he is still in with a realistic chance of challenging for the top spot.
After three coastal events where Bonafede had mixed results, the team is confident that the return to altitude will be an advantage, and he will be looking for a return to the form that saw him at the top of the log after the opening round at Zwartkops at the beginning of March.
Despite the coastal outings not going entirely as planned, Bonafede did manage to score points in every race which has given him a bit of breathing space over the chasing pack.
When asked for his thoughts prior to the event Bonafede said, “We expect the BMWs to be quick at Phakisa but we should be fighting for the win. I love the track with its fast, flowing layout that challenges a driver.”
Qualifying gets underway at 10am on 2 August, with the eight-lap sprint scheduled to start at about 1pm and the 12-lap feature race getting underway just after 3pm.
