Chicken, Tikkun style

DIEPSLOOT- Add Hope, the corporate social responsibility initiative of KFC South Africa, has recently announced its partnership with international non-profit organisation, Afrika Tikkun, for the second consecutive year to launch their joint 94.7 Momentum Cycle Challenge team.

The team will compete in the challenge to promote their partnership, attract riders to join the team, and strengthen the giving culture of riders to raise money for children in early childhood development centres and schools across the country.

The Add Hope initiative focuses on making a real and meaningful difference to hunger relief in South Africa through nutrition programmes and feeding schemes.

Nutrition and hunger alleviation is also one of the core programmes of Afrika Tikkun. Therefore, it’s no surprise that funds raised by riders and donors will be used to directly nourish children in six communities across South Africa, with particular focus on children and youth from the extremely impoverished Diepsloot community.

“Partnering with Add Hope to create a unique charity cycle team experience allows us to increase our reach into sports markets synonymous with charitable endeavours, whilst fitting in with cyclists’ own culture and interests,” said Onyi Nwaneri, Afrika Tikkun’s development and marketing executive.

The Afrika Tikkun Add Hope charity cycle team welcomes road and mountain bikers of all abilities to cycle for their cause in the 94.7 Momentum Cycle Challenge.

Charity entries are restricted and will close on 26 September, so the team advises riders to join sooner rather than later.

“Riding this event truly is a challenge, but knowing that riders are cycling the gruelling 94.7 kilometres to provide healthy and balanced meals to the children of Diepsloot is a worthy achievement,” said Add Hope’s CSI and sponsorship manager Lauren Turnbull.

The cycle team partnership between Add Hope and Afrika Tikkun will build on the success of their first cycle team which launched at the 2013 94.7 Momentum Cycle Challenge.

“We are challenging each rider to raise just R2 500 – which will fill two children’s tummies for a year. The campaign is proving a viable partnership, bringing new donors through a compelling team experience and harnessing the power of positive engagement with each cyclist.”
