Rivonia Budo Karate Academy awards pupils
PAULSHOF – Rivonia Budo Karate Academy hosts their first white belt grading
Rivonia Budo Karate Academy held its first and successful white belt grading for children and adults.
All grading candidates trained extremely hard in preparation and, while a little nervous, their diligence and spirit shone through.
Josh Feldman, an instructor at the academy, explained that after grading, the pupils were now focused on the BKI-KWF SA National Championships scheduled to take place on 3 and 4 June.
Rivonia Budo Karate Academy is an authentic Shotokan karate dojo affiliated to Budo Karate International (founded by eighth dan Malcolm Dorfman) and Karatenomichi World Federation in Japan.
The dojo’s emphasis is the practise and preservation of authentic budo karate techniques, original values, traditions and ethos while continuously evolving by fostering the development of correct, scientific and safe modern exercise technology. Their core value is shoujiki (integrity).
With the guidance of Dorfman, the academy believes a true karate-ka is a holistic being and aims to maximize the physical, cognitive, emotional and life skills of its members and cultivating a good value system.
The academy is based at the Rivonia Recreation Club in Paulshof and is run by instructors Lars Niehaus (fifth dan) and Feldman (fourth dan) with classes for all ages held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons as well as Friday and Saturday mornings.
