‘Iron Duke’ is re-elected to lead PSL
JOBURG – The most powerful man in football in the country, Dr Irvin 'Iron Duke' Khoza, has been re-elected to lead the Premier Soccer League.
The incumbent chairperson of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Dr Irvin ‘Iron Duke’ Khoza has been re-elected to lead Africa’s richest and most powerful league on the continent.
Khoza, who is also the chairperson of Orlando Pirates Football Club, was elected unopposed for another four-year term at the helm of this prestigious football league, which is the 10th richest in the world.
Addressing a press conference at Montecasino in Fourways after his re-election at a quadrennial meeting of the National Soccer League, the holding company of the PSL, Khoza said he felt honoured to have been given another mandate to serve the members of the league and the football fraternity in the country.
He also welcomed new individuals who have been elected to serve in the PSL Executive Committee, saying their election would ensure the growth of the league from strength to strength.
He, however, cautioned members against being “complacent in the face of the boom we’re experiencing as the
league,” saying the league was entering a new era where it could no longer be business as usual.
Khoza said the committee also took the opportunity at the meeting to look at the financials of the previous financial year (2015/16) and also deliberated on a range of issues he would not disclose.
The elected officials are:
Chairperson:
Dr Irvin Khoza
Executive Committee:
Kaizer Motaung of Kaizer Chiefs
Mato Madlala of Lamontville Golden Arrows
Stanley Matthews of SuperSport United
David Thidiela of Black Leopards
Jose Ferreira of Bidvest Wits
