Supreme Fight League tournament hosts 4th event
RIVONIA – Kickboxing greats from across South Africa will take to the podium at the Supreme Fight League.
Kickboxing fans are excited to witness the 4th Supreme Fight League (SFL) event to be hosted at the Barnyard Theatre on the 4 August.
Fans and supporters will witness explosive fights on a fight-card weighted with remarkably talented and diverse fighters.
SFL spokesperson Maka Maguga said, “2018 sees us, at the Supreme Fight League, host five incredible events that will pair South African greats against each other. This particular event will be thrilling and treat our local kickboxing fans to a total of 13 fights, with an incredible line-up leading up to our main fight.”
Amateur, super-amateur and professional fights will fill the line-up, each with their own particular rules and safety requirements. Fights will take place across the weight spectrum with a combination of speed and strength to guarantee riveting performances from beginning to end.
The most anticipated fight sees South African Kickboxing Association (SAKA) titleholder Adrian ‘Sparks’ van Wyk come up against Rami ‘Pitbull’ Mungul. Van Wyk, who comes from Paarl, started his career in 2010 and is well-known for his tenacious boxing ability and powerful accuracy. Mungul is a martial arts and Pilates instructor from Randburg who has been doing kickboxing since 2004. He made his professional debut at SFL 2 after having a shattering
nine-fight winning streak in his amateur career. He had a tough fight in his professional debut, walking away with a split decision victory against the experienced and highly skilled SAKA cruiserweight titleholder.
The two fighters, who are excited to meet in the ring, have earned the opportunity to fight for the SAKA cruiser light heavyweight title.
“We are constantly striving to provide our local kickboxers with a platform to work towards the world stage. It’s time to move the league forward and upwards, showcase our incredible talent, provide sponsors with amazing opportunities and our audience with awesome entertainment. Join us,” added Maguga.
Tickets cost R200 per person, with doors opening at 6pm and the event kicking off at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.barnyardtheatre.co.za.
