Hit the trail in Fourways and Midrand

Participants are encouraged to go home directly after their races. Revolution Trails announces the category winners online and these people can collect their prizes at the next race.


Get your running shoes out and prepare to explore the green spaces of Midrand and Fourways. Revolution Trails has been hosting trail runs in the area and invites you to join in.

“At Revolution Trails, we provide a friendly, safe and fun environment where everyone is welcome to enjoy nature with the whole family, even the doggies are welcome at most events,” said company owner Glizelle Langerman, “You are welcome to run, walk or even hike at any of our races. All finishers receive a medal and can earn Discovery Vitality Points.

“Participants receive official race results  via email that can be submitted to all other medical scheme rewards programmes as well.” Trail runs are held every Wednesday evening and Saturday and Sunday morning at various venues including The Country Bistro in Glen Austin AH and Riversands Farm Village in Knoppieslaagte. Runs are also held on public holidays.

The company also has runs in Kempton Park, Modderfontein and Hennops River Valley, and has plans for more venues in Joburg and Centurion when the country moves to lockdown Level 2. There are 2km, 5km and 10km trails and entry prices vary from R55 to R115 depending on the distance. “We have implemented safety protocols to ensure all our runners, walkers and hikers can enjoy their time in nature while feeling safe in doing so.

“We no longer have group starts, as was normally the case before the pandemic. Participants therefore have a choice when they want to register and start. “This ensures that there are no large groups gathering together and that proper social distancing regulations can be adhered to.

On arrival, participants are required to sanitise their hands and their temperatures are taken before being registered. Once the participant has started his/her race, they are allowed to remove the mask or buff until they are back at the registration area, where they need to wear the mask/buff again.”

All participants are issued with timing cards that provide an emergency phone number that can be called if assistance is required.

he timing cards are also used to ensure that everyone that went out on the trails comes safely back at the end of the race. The trails are marked, marshals are placed strategically along the routes and first aid officers are on-site as well. A photograph service is provided at all races and participants can download the photos for free.
