Waterfall City Athletics Club member, Givemore Mudzinganyama kicks off 2022 season on a high note
The local runner said working hard and pushing beyond the limit every day helped him in the race.
Despite struggling with a sinus infection a week before the race, Waterfall City Athletics Club member Givemore Mudzinganyama managed to win the Hemel en Aarde Marathon in the Western Cape.
Mudzinganyama won the men’s race in just 02:25:42.
He said working hard and pushing himself beyond the limit every day had helped him in the marathon.
“It was a great race I must say. The week leading to the race I was struggling with a sinus infection. The race boosted my confidence and I feel that my training is still on a good track. The weather was perfect when we started the race and close to 30 degrees during the last 45 minutes of the race. This race was just a fast tempo run towards my main race in one-and-a-half month’s to come.”
He added that his goal was to run in the next Olympics and post a world championship time of 02:11:30.
“I am looking for the races in which I can participate in Europe but due to Covid-19 restrictions in some European countries, races are not allowed.”
