26 years of kicks for Sensei Roberta

Sensei Roberta Biagoni runs a karate academy for children in Fourways during school holidays.

Sensei Roberta Biagioni has been teaching karate at the Fourways Garden Estate for 26 years. She said that after she discovered teaching, she did not want to do anything else.

Biagioni now runs a holiday club for children during school holidays every year. This year, it is no exception and she is switching things up a little bit. She said initially, the club was limited to the learners of her school, but now it is open to all the children in Fourways.

“I enjoy teaching the art of karate. I stay motivated as I am fueled by the joy of witnessing children entering my lesson with smiles and enthusiasm to learn the ancient art form of karate.”

She said she got into the sport after she observed her brother’s passion for karate, and witnessing his remarkable proficiency and success in the sport.

Their karate school is named Fourways Martial Arts Academy.

“As a mother, I recognised an opportunity for children during the school holidays to engage in an enriching physical activity for 45 mins instead of scrolling through digital platforms. This would bring relief to mothers who have run out of ideas to keep the children entertained in the holidays.

Biagioni opened the holiday club to all participants with the aim of giving the children in the area an opportunity to discover the immerse enjoyable aspects of karate which develops the body and mind.
