WBE58 excites fans with the CFL middleweight division debut and thrilling bout

Johannesburg’s boxing scene heats up as WBE58 delivers a night packed with fierce battles, a lively crowd, and the debut of the CFL middleweight division.

On June 4, the World Boxing Entertainment (WBE) 58 event at Lock Stock & Beer in Pineslopes turned up the energy, with an electrifying crowd, intense bouts, and the official launch of the Community Fight League (CFL) middleweight division.

The night featured seven action-packed fights, including league matchups and action boxing showdowns, captivating fans from start to finish.

The debut of the CFL middleweight division was a highlight of the evening. Craig Fleming emerged victorious over Jason Welch, showcasing precision and tactical skill.

Meanwhile, Abara Mukanya and Tyron Brown engaged in a fiercely contested battle, with Mukanya securing a narrow points win. Both fighters demonstrated heart and technical growth, setting a promising tone for the division, backed by sponsor Goldwagen Wynberg.

In three high-energy action boxing bouts, fighters left it all in the ring. Notably, Wayde Gerber, of CResults, stepped in at the last minute to face Alecio Mesquita, from Ultimate Fitness, after an opponent’s illness.

Gerber’s composed and clinical performance earned him Fighter of the Night honours, proving his resilience and skill under pressure.

The heavyweight league saw two compelling bouts. Thapelo Ngwenya displayed significant improvement, outworking Louis Rossouw over three rounds to climb the standings.

In the main event, Thabang Dikgale and Martin De Souza went toe-to-toe in a hard-fought draw, with judges split on the decision. Despite the result, Dikgale remains at the top of the division.

With support from Norman Goodfellows and Castle Lite, the crowd was relentless – loud, engaged, and passionate. Fighters continue to grow, and the league’s momentum is undeniable. Stephen Castle, founder of WBE, emphasised this growth: “The league is gaining serious momentum. What we’re building is more than just events; it’s development, courage, and community in motion.”
