King Tut in town

JOBURG - Montecasino's sister entertainment complex, Silverstar Casino may be a bit far for some, but it's worth the trip to see their new exhibition, Tutankhamun - His Tomb and His Treasures.

The exhibition, which is a first for South Africa and the African continent as a whole, gives visitors the unique opportunity to experience the treasures of Tutankhamun’s tomb at the moment of its discovery. Every detail of Tutankhamun’s treasures have been replicated and placed in the exact positions they were in when British archaeologist, Howard Carter discovered the tomb in 1922.

There are more than 1 000 exquisitely reconstructed burial treasures produced by the finest Egyptian craftsmen under scientific supervision. These exact replicas coupled with state-of-the-art technology and video material provide a vivid illustration of the culture and spiritual world of the ancient Egyptians. The magic and mystery of ancient Egypt is explored in the exhibition and the magnificence of the exhibits will delight young and old. The exhibition opened on 2 December and will run for the entire festive season and the early part of next year. It is open seven days a week, except for Christmas Day.
