Diepsloot fun walk aims to unite community and stakeholders

Residents are invited to take part in the first-of-its-kind event, promoting unity and stronger community relationships.

Residents of Diepsloot are invited to lace up their walking shoes and join a community fun walk on June 13, aimed at strengthening relationships between residents, local stakeholders, and service providers.

The event, organised by the Diepsloot stakeholders plannery team, will bring together community members, businesses, public service institutions, and various stakeholders for a day focused on unity, trust, and collaboration. According to the public representative officer Bafana Mvelase the initiative was created to help bridge the gap between residents and organisations that serve the community. “The main objective of the event is to bring people closer to one another and build stronger relationships between the community and stakeholders.”

The fun walk will start early in the morning, from Muzomuhle Primary School headed towards Tlou street, then taking Ingonyama Road and back to the school. Mvelase said the walk will be accompanied by activities aimed at promoting community participation and encouraging stakeholders to reaffirm their commitment to serving residents.

While the programme will include a pledge of commitment from participating stakeholders, the focus of the day remains building trust and fostering a spirit of co-operation within the community.

Mvelase explained that organisers hope the event will become an annual fixture on the community calendar, providing an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to regularly engage and strengthen working relationships. “Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and prepare for an enjoyable morning outdoors. Refreshment stations will be available along the route, with water and fruit, including oranges, apples, and bananas, being provided to walkers.
