Toys, cheers and bouncy fun at Itemba Soup Kitchen’s Christmas in July
Getting together for the benefit of the less fortunate.
Itemba Soup Kitchen celebrated Christmas in July hosted by EOH Infor Services on Saturday, at the Primrose East Dutch Reformed Church, in Primrose East.
The soup kitchen has 10 families with a collective of 25 children as beneficiaries, and feeds between 90 to 130 people a day.
With the help of private donors, EIS staff members, Primrose community members and those from surrounding suburbs, the church made the day extra special by presenting each child with a new outfit, toys and shoes.
Castles for Rascals sponsored a jumping castle on site to spread cheer.
Cupcakes and cold drinks were made available as extra treats, as well as meals donated by La Piovra restaurant.
Tina Moodley and her team from ST Tent Hire and Event Supplies provided lovely decor to make the experience even more beautiful for the families.
To ensure the day was a success, one of the sponsors, Savvy Naaido ensured the 10 families also had enough food parcels to take home.
“Our goal stretched further than creating a Christmas in July for the children, we sought to help Itemba Soup Kitchen continue to be sustainable and help the community,” said Mandy Snoyman, the event organiser from EOH Infor Services.
The church is currently accepting donations from the public such as soup ingredients, fruit and vegetables, fresh bread, crockery and cutlery, second-hand clothing, shoes and toys.
