Alleged car thief nabbed

The Katlehong SAPS arrested a 28-year-old man for being in possession of a stolen vehicle, last Tuesday.

It is alleged that the vehicle was stolen in Boksburg, half an hour before the police spotted it in Mofokeng Section, in Katlehong.

The police were out conducting their normal duties when they were alerted by the tracking company that the stolen Hyundai H100 was in their vicinity.

As they approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated and the police gave chase.

According to Capt Mega Ndobe, the communications officer for the Katlehong SAPS, the driver finally stopped the vehicle and was caught before he could flee on foot.

The police are searching for the man’s accomplices, who were in the vehicle, as they managed to escape on foot.

The man will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and malicious damage to property.
