House robberies on the increase

Beware of crime in your area says Primrose CPF.

The Primrose CPF warn the community about an increase in house robberies and break-ins in the Primrose area.

According to the forum, the robbers lift the gate off its rails to obtain access to the property.

“To prevent this, weld a piece of metal on top of the gate on both sides, to prevent lifting,” said Wendy Morgan, Primrose CPF secretary.

“Also weld a piece of metal on the outside of pedestrian gates, so that the lock cannot be pried open.

“These robbers are probably using a vehicle to remove big screen television sets and the like from the properties, so be on the lookout for strange vehicles hanging around your area.

“This goes for luxury vehicles, as well, as it is possibly men in a Mercedes who are involved in these break-ins.”

The CPF is also warning the community that there is a young white woman who screams for help outside your gate.

“When you go to help her, there are white men waiting outside who hold you up and rob you,” Morgan said.

“Rather call your sector van for assistance.”

Morgan added that there have also been incidents of ATM card robberies.

“There have been incidents at the FNB machine at the Caltex garage on the corner Barbara Road and Second Avenue,” she said.

The Primrose CPF also warns the elderly not to trust or to help strangers, as elderly members of the community are being robbed.

They also urge community members to educate their domestic workers about not allowing anyone onto your property without first checking with you.

“Robbers are saying that they have come to fix the stove etc., and then they rob the house once the domestic worker lets them in,” said Morgan.

Contact the sector vans if you are not comfortable with anything happening in the neighbourhood.

The contact numbers for the vans are:
