Phoney officers rob man

Men pretending to be cops rob victim.

The Primrose police have arrested a 29-year-old man for common robbery, in Pretoria Road, in Primrose.

The arrest was made after a man came to the Primrose Police Station and reported the robbery to officers.

The victim alleged that he was walking along Pretoria Road, when a vehicle stopped near him.

The vehicle’s two occupants informed him that they were police officers and that they needed to take him to the station for questioning.

When he refused one of the occupants got out of the vehicle and forced him inside.

“While he was in the vehicle the victim was told that the men were not police officers, as they had claimed.

“They instructed the man to give them everything from his pockets; while one was driving the other man started searching the victim and remove R320 and a cellphone,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The victim was then thrown from the moving vehicle.

After following several leads Primrose police detective were able to trace and arrest one of the two suspects.

The second is still at large.
