For what purpose is your rented property being used?

Beware when renting your property.

The Primrose police are urging the community to know exactly what is going on at properties they are renting out.

The warning comes on the heels of an intensive four-month operation by police.

“During the operation we identified certain houses in the area that are being used as drug houses,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“We have identified six houses in the Primrose Sector Two area, five houses in the Primrose Sector Three area and two houses in Primrose Sector One.

“We have collected enough information and the station will start to hand out notices to the owner that their houses will be forfeited to the State.

“Properties are expensive, therefore we are sending a friendly warning to our community, as they may lose their property because of drugs.”

Should anyone know of any house which is being used for drug dealing, they are urged to phone the station commander, Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, on 082 778 3539.

He will treat every call confidentially and address the complaints in a serious light.

“We also identified some houses that are used as brothels,” continued Maome.

“We appeal to the licensed businesses to work hand-in-hand with the police, to eliminate immoral activities from their premises, as these may land them in trouble.”

The community is also warned that those selling liquor without licence in our area will be raided.

Police will confiscate any item/equipment that is used to promote or used as amusement/entertainment in these illegal establishments.

“We have already raided some of these homes and have information about new taverns in the area.

“We have arrested many people in the past and we are going to double the numbers this time around,” added Maome.
