Why are the street lights left on?

Resident wants to know why the lights are left on, despite the strain on the national power grid.

An irate Dirk Koekemoer recently contacted the GCN.

“I have been noticing street lights and floodlights remain on 24/7 for more than two weeks now,” he told the GCN.

I have been noticing street lights and floodlights remain on 24/7 for more than two weeks now – says Dirk Koekemoer.

He claims these lights can be found at OR Tambo International Airport, the Gautrain Rhodesflield and Elandsfontein Train Stations, as well as in Bedfordview, Primrose, Elandsfonein and Kempton Park.

“I have been contacted everyone I could think of and still nothing has been done about this.

“It is being treated as if this is just one little street light in my area.”

Koekemoer’s concern focuses on what kind of strain these lights are putting on the already strained national power grid grid.

“Are we not experiencing a national power crisis?,” he asked.

The GCN contacted the metro to find out why these lights had been left burning.

At the time of going to print not comment had been received.
