The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) from the Germiston Central Fire Station, responded to a call of flooding, last Thursday, at the intersection of Rand Refinery and Barlow roads.
This happened after the industrial area experienced extremely heavy rain in a short space of time, causing most of the roads to become flooded.
The intersection was closed for safety reasons until all the water had drained away through the storm water drains.
“The call was received at about around 4.30pm and on arrival, emergency service members closed the intersection until about 5.30pm, when the road surface was clear again,” said William Ntladi, media liaison officer for DEMS.
“No drowning incidents or accidents were reported following the flood.”
