Forty suspects arrested in a week

Primrose police have their hands full.

The Primrose police have shared their latest arrest statistics.

Officers arrested a total of 40 suspects from June 29 to July 5.

The suspects were arrested for various crimes in the Primrose area, including:

  •  Attempted murder: 1
  •  Rape: 1
  •  Shoplifting: 2
  •  Possession of illegal cigarettes: 4
  •  Theft: 2
  •  Driving under the influence of alcohol: 14
  •  Assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm: 2
  •  Common robbery: 2
  •  Common assault: 2
  •  Possession of drugs: 3
  •  Armed Robbery: 1
  •  Resisting arrest: 1
  •  Illegal immigrants: 4
  •  Contempt of court: 1

Acting station Commander Lieut-Col France Lepadima thanked everyone who contributed to these arrests.

Most of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The illegal immigrants will be taken to Lindela for deportation.
