Load shedding to continue till 10pm this evening
A shortage of generation capacity to blame for load shedding.
Eskom will be implementing stage one load shedding from 08.30 am today.
The load shedding is expected to continue till 10 pm this evening.
This is due to increased electricity demand and a shortage of generation capacity resulting from technical faults at some of the company’s power station units.
“Eskom would like to assure customers that load shedding is implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system and to ensure that maintenance is carried out in order to guarantee that our supply of electricity can be maintained in the long term,” the company said.
Any unexpected changes on the vulnerable and constrained power system could lead to a change in the load shedding stage at short notice.
Eskom will continue to provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all the media platforms.
