The Primrose police’s housebreaking task team recently arrested two men for the possession of suspected stolen property.
The men, aged 30 and 31, were arrested in the Marathon informal settlement after the team received an anonymous tip-off.
The informant claimed the two had been seen carrying alleged stolen computers through the settlement.
Undercover officers entered the settlement and tracked the two men.
“The men were asked for proof of purchase but neither man could produce one and could not give a clear explanation as to where they had obtained the computers from,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
They were arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.
“During the profiling procedure at the station, it was discovered the men were wanted by the Hillbrow SAPS, in connection with a case opened in 2012,” Maome said.
The men have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their case was postponed for plea and trial.
“The accused will be handed over to the Hillbrow police once their case is finalised,” said Maome.
