The Primrose police recently arrested five men, aged between 19 and 27 years, on different counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The arrests were made while officers were on patrol in several of the area’s informal settlements.
“In a number of the arrests, it appears that abuse of liquor was a cause.
“Liquor abuse continues to be a problem in the informal settlements,” said communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.
The suspects have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
