Paramedics declared a man from the Marathon Informal Settlement dead at the scene after he was repeatedly stabbed in the upper body.
“The Primrose Housebreaking and Theft Task Team, acting outside of its normal role, followed several leads that led to the speedy arrest of a 35-year-old man,” said the Primrose SAPS communications officer, Sgt Styles Maome.
The man was arrested on September 6 and charged with murder.
The station commander for the Primrose Police Station, Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, thanked the team members for their quick reaction time.
The suspect will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
