Resident reduced to asking neighbours for water

Metro claims to have fixed meter leak and restored water to Rondebult home.

The taps at Tryphina Mokoena’s Rondebult home were left dry for several days after the metro failed to repair a leak reported to them.

Mokoena had to ask her neighbours for buckets of water, while the metro could not give her a turnaround time for repairs.

The GCN sent a query to the metro to find out why it had taken so long to repair the leak, and when it would be repaired.

“The metro acknowledges receiving the complaint of a water leak in Rondebult.

“A maintenance team was dispatched to attend to the meter leak and the plumber who dealt with the complaints advised the metro that the meter leak was fixed.

“We, therefore, confirm that the meter leak complaint was resolved,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro.

No reason was given as to why the metro took so long to respond to the complaint.
