A Christmas dream came true for Epworth Children’s Village on Thursday when the 702 Truck of Love visited the home, bringing a donation worth R60 000.
Thanks to 702 and Spar, the home received a number of much-needed items on its wish list.
The donation was brought about by Dinwiddie resident Lezandri Botes after she visited the home and was told that the home was in need of sponsors.
“I felt the need to help and got hold of 702 and they and Spar came on board with this lovely donation,” said Lezandri.
The Truck of Love brought goods, including a deep freeze, a number of washing machines and other items desperately needed by the home.
Lezandri also organised a visit by Father Christmas (Franshua Botes), who arrived on a fire truck from the Germiston Fire Station, as well as party packs for the children sponsored by Charles Prinsloo from Alpha Pharm Pharmacy.
A special cake was donated by Benita Blundell from Dreamcakes and the use of a waterslide was donated for the day by Stella Tobler from Absolute Fun Jumping Castles.
The children had a wonderful day and Epworth staff and management were extremely grateful for the large donation.
Lezandri thanks 702, Spar, Dreamcakes, Alpha Pharm Pharmacy, Absolute Fun Jumping Castles, Franshua Botes (Father Christmas), Germiston Fire Station, PriMedia and Rose and Gerard Fletcher from GRT Cranes (who are donating team-type games, like swingball, for the children), for making the day possible and for opening their hearts to children in need.
