Police find unlicensed firearm in Mars Street

Accused allows officers to search his premises after police receive tip-off.

After recently receiving an anonymous tip-off, the Primrose police visited a 49-year-old man’s Mars Street business.

When the officers arrived they noticed that the man appeared panicked, and asked to search the premises.

During the search two firearms were discovered.

The man was able to produce a license for the first weapon, but not for the second.

Officers asked where he had obtained the firearm, but the accused was unable to give a clear explanation.

He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
