Drug issues addressed in Makause

The Primrose police recently hosted a drug awareness campaign in the Makause informal settlement.

A drug awareness campaign was recently held in the Makause informal settlement.

Members of the Primrose police, together with the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk, members of the social development department, and several community leaders hosted the campaign at the Twelve Apostolic Church.

Amongst the visitors were people from NAPWA (NGO) and the Ekurhuleni Community Support Programme.

Speakers encouraged the community to say no to drugs and to seek help if they need it.

The Youth Desk members performed an interactive and educational play after the keynote address.

“As police we hope awareness campaigns like this will make our community aware of the dangers of substance abuse, and we will carry on organising similar events to educate the community,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
