Resident disappointed with the metro’s service

Cora Erasmus Old Age Home resident disappointed with the metro’s service.

It took the metro a week to attend to a burst geyser at Cora Erasmus Old Age Home, in Primrose, recently.

The geyser burst on a Monday and despite numerous calls, the metro only attended to the issue the following Monday.

“I called the call taking centre the morning the geyser burst and I was told that someone would attend to it,” said Essie van Jaarsveldt.

“I waited and waited but nobody came.”

Van Jaarsveldt’s house was flooding while she was waiting for assistance.

“With the help of my neighbours I had to move some of the furniture from the house to save it from being damaged because the house was flooding,” she explained.

“I also had to sweep the water out during the hours I was waiting for help.”

Van Jaarsveldt also told the GCN that she was assisted by a private plumber while she was waiting for the metro.

“My children had to call someone to come and help me as I couldn’t leave the situation the way it was,” she said.

“The metro only came to attend to the problem the following Monday, which I was very disappointed about.

“What would have happened had my children not called the private person to come and help me?”

The metro told the GCN that they had internal delays.

“The metro is aware of the complaint raised by the tenant and regrets the delay in resolving the matter timeously due to internal processes that needed to be followed,” said Themba Gadebe, the metro’s spokesman.

“The matter has been resolved.”

Van Jaarsveldt was not pleased with the service from the metro.

“A week later they came, I am truly disappointed,” she said.
