Newborn baby boy dumped in veld

Katlehong SAPS officers are investigating a case of child neglect.

An abandoned baby boy, estimated to be two weeks old, was found on Thursday, March 30, by community members in the Katlehong South area.

Communications official at Katlehong Police Station, Capt Mega Ndobe, said the police were informed of the incident.

“The police went to the the scene and the baby was taken to the nearest hospital for a check-up.

“The mother of the baby is unknown.”

Ndobe said the community members in Katlehong have faith in the police.

“They are working hand in hand with us in the fight against crime. I would like to thank them for that.

“They don’t keep quiet if they notice any crime taking place.

“If they continue doing this, criminals are going to be defeated,” said Ndobe.

The investigations are continuing.
