A four-year-old girl was recently found crying in the street by a Silumaview, Katlehong community member.
“The young girl was brought to the Katlehong Police Station in the afternoon and police took her to the hospital for a check-up but doctors found nothing wrong with her.
“She was taken to a place of safety while officers searched for her mother,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, communications official for the Katlehong police.
It is alleged that the child’s 43-year-old mother later came to the station to report the child missing.
“The woman only reported the child missing after 9pm.
“By which stage officers had already opened a case of child neglect against her,” explained Ndobe.
The woman was arrested and held at the Katlehong Police Station pending her appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
