Traffic comes to a stand-still in parts of the country against farm murders
A nationwide protest against the killing of farmers and farm labourers has sweep across the country, after a group of concerned South Africans felt not enough attention was being paid to this plight.
Traffic came to a standstill in parts of the country this morning (Monday) with community members – dressed in black in their trucks and cars all in support of the Black Monday campaign.
The campaign aims to highlight the high number of farm murders.
According to Eye Witness News (EWN) the movement was started in Cape Town by a group called Enough is Enough after the murder of farmer Joubert Conradie on his farm earlier this month.
The group feels that not enough attention is being paid to the killing of farmers and farm labourers.
It was reported that local highways, namely the R21 and R24 were affected by the protests, with heavy traffic on the R21 North between the R24 airport interchange and Tembisa.

Other routes affected by the protest included:
• The R59 between Vereeniging and Redan.
• Queuing traffic on the N1 North between the R21 interchange and the Atterbury Road off-ramp.
• Heavy traffic on the R28 Paardekraal Road North towards the Pinehaven crossing.
• Heavy traffic on the N14 East between Hendrik Potgieter Road and Beyers Naude Drive.
