Guides receive prestigious awards
The First Germiston Guides’ Germburg Ranger Crew celebrate several outstanding awards.
October was a month of celebration for several members of the First Germiston Guides’ Germburg Ranger Crew.
Megan Bainton, Angela Murphy, Darian Bainton, Moyahabo Masipa, Jenna-Lisa da Camara, Rebecca Ryan, Faith Makhathini and Bongi Zondo were each awarded with badges they have been working exceptionally hard for.
The awards were:
• The crew’s newest member, Faith, made her promise and was enrolled as a Ranger.
• Jenna-Lisa was awarded her camp permit and level three badges.
• Bongi received her diamond award.
• Megan, Angela, Darian and Moyahabo were each awarded a Protea Award, the highest award achievement in Guiding.
Along with their Protea awards, the four also achieved their Adult Leaders’ Qualification.
“The Guiding community is exceptionally proud of these dedicated and resourceful young women,” said Sue Vorster.

Girl Guides SA is a non-profit organisation (NPO) that empowers girls and women to reach their fullest potential through a dynamic programme which teaches members how to become responsible citizens, as well as imparting important leadership, sustainability and humanity skills.
The Girl Guides’ objective is to nurture core manners, values and morals in young women which will assist them to become good community leaders.
The First Lambton Teddies caters to girls aged from four to seven years old, while Brownies caters for girls from seven to 10 years old.
The First Germiston Guides caters for older girls from 10 to 15 years old; from 15 onwards girls will become Rangers.
