Calling all braai masters

The Din-Al-View CPF invites everyone to enter their Master Braaiers Competition.

The annual Din-Al-View CPF Master Braaiers Competition is set to showcase the community’s cooking skills.

The event takes place on Saturday from 8.30am at the Albemarle Shopping Centre situated on the corner of Onyx Place and Hatfield Avenue in Albemarle.

A floating trophy, sponsored by Albemarle Local Choice Pharmacy and other goodies supplied by Merv’s Hardware, Albemarle KwikSpar Choose n Pay and Vicino’s Pizza are up for grabs.

A donation of R20 per entry puts you in line for a prize.

The meal must consist of three chicken drumsticks (one for each judge) and any other accompanying dishes. All ingredients must be supplied by the contestants.

Judging will be based on originality, presentation and taste.

Braaiers should also prepare themselves for a surprise.

Apart from the competition, the CPF will be holding its monthly boerie roll and bernerwurst roll sale to raise funds for the CPF patrollers, opposite Merv’s Hardware too.

On the day children under the age of 13 are invited to construct their own creative pizza at Vicino’s, paying only for the ingredients they use.

This is not a competition but is purely for the fun of it.

Santa’s sleigh, provided by the Germiston Rotary Club, will also be on site for receiving gifts from the public in aid of the Shoe Box Project, an initiative by Brig Nkhensani Lemba, station commander of the Germiston Police Station.

The gift should fit into a shoe box and include toiletries and a toy.

The gift should be marked as being suitable for a boy or girl and the applicable age group.

These gifts will then, on behalf of the residents of Sector Five, be presented to Lemba to hand out to the less fortunate children in the Germiston policing areas.
