Sassa grants will still be paid says councillor

Ward 36 councillor available to assist the elderly with Sassa queries.

Ward 36 councillor Wendy Morgan has the following information for those who collect Sassa social grants.

“I visited the Sassa offices in Caitlin Street in the Germiston CBD, last Tuesday, to find out what Sassa social grant beneficiaries need to do, now that the present cards had an expiry date of December 2017,” Morgan said.

Beneficiaries, who wish to have their grants paid directly into their own bank account, need to go to the Sassa office to get a form, which has to be completed.

Unfortunately, no photocopied copies will be accepted.

“This form needs to be completed and verified and stamped at your bank. You will also need three months’ certified bank statements, a certified copy of your ID and a certified copy of your proof of address.

“Then you will need to take the documents back to the Sassa office,” Morgan said.

“The current Sassa cards are still valid until the national government social department sorts out the new process.

“Beneficiaries will still receive their grants.”

If you have any queries, contact Morgan on 072 963 9675 and she will try to assist you.
