A man sustained multiple gunshot wounds during an alleged attempt to hijack his vehicle in the Roodekop area on Thursday night.
Netcare 911 responded to a call regarding a shooting in Klipspringer Avenue at around 11.30pm.
Paramedics were the first to arrive on the scene and attended to the 26-year-old man who had been shot.
It is alleged that the victim was attacked at a nearby petrol station by a man armed with a rifle in an attempt to hijack his vehicle.
The victim fled the scene in his vehicle and paramedics attended to him in Klipspringer Avenue.
He sustained several gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen, and his vehicle was hit with multiple shots.
The advanced life support paramedics stabilised him and administered analgesic medication to manage his pain, before transporting him by ambulance to a specialised trauma unit in order for him to get the urgent care he required.
The SAPS are investigating the incident and preceding events.
