Two nabbed trying to sell stolen bicycle

Two 21-year-old men arrested by the Primrose police for the possession of stolen property.

After receiving a tip-off from a community member last Monday, police travelled to the Makause informal settlement.

“The informant told police that two men, both aged 21 years old, were trying to sell a stolen bicycle,” Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police said.

“When the police arrived at the address given they found the two men and the bicycle.

“It was also discovered the men were smoking dagga.”

The accused were unable to tell officers where they had acquired the bicycle.

“During the investigation, it was discovered that the bicycle had been stolen during a house break-in earlier this month,” said Maome.

Both men were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were charged with the possession of stolen property.

They have since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where the case was postponed for plea and trial.

“We thank the community for their help and encourage them to continue to be involved in the fight against crime,” said Maome.
