Katlehong nab 11 in daily stop-and-search

Eleven suspects were arrested in the Katlehong area during a stop-and-search operation last Tuesday.

The Katlehong police made 11 arrests during a daily stop-and-search operation last Tuesday.

The operation was conducted by officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station.

Among the suspects arrested by the team were a 24-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man.

The pair were originally charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and had a warrant of arrest issued for them when they failed to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, as per their bail conditions.

The other nine suspects were arrested on charges including domestic violence, common assault and possession of dagga.

Katlehong SAPS’ acting station commander Col Nomthandeki Mthembu was pleased with the operation’s results and commended the officers for their efforts.

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The team will continue to host similar operations in the area.
