Woman allegedly sets fire to her boyfriend

Primrose police apprehended a woman on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Primrose police arrested a 29-year-old Makause informal settlement woman, last Sunday, on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The woman was arrested after her boyfriend opened a case against her.

“The complainant alleged that he and his girlfriend had an argument about her not doing household chores,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“After the argument he went to sleep.

“While sleeping he felt someone lifting the blankets and pouring something on him.”

It is alleged that the accused poured paraffin on the victim.

“After reportedly fetching matches from the kitchen she lit one and threw it at him,” said Maome.

“The victim sustained injuries to the upper body.”

The woman will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
