Hospital staff encouraged to be healthy

Life Roseacres Hospital holds informative wellness day for their staff.

Self-care and maintaining your overall wellness should be at the top of your-to-do list and for many of us our busy lifestyles get in the way.

For doctors, nurses and hospital staff this is made even more difficult as many work long shifts.

With this in mind Life Roseacres Hospital hosted a wellness day for its staff members, on Thursday, with a variety of information stands and wellness check points on offer.

“Angel S is an organisation that assists in getting hospitals stroke ready,” Renathe explained.

“We offer training and readiness simulations to the staff and today we are focusing on patient awareness.

“One of the most important things when dealing with a stroke patient is time and we want the staff to be aware and to educate the community to recognise the signs of a stroke and to know what to do and where to go.”

Dietician Anita Mostert was also on hand to offer the staff advice and tips on maintaining a balanced and healthy diet.

“I am here to offer my advice to hospital staff who may have questions on diet especially when it relates to chronic medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes etc,” Anita said.

“Diet can make a huge difference in the maintenance and management of chronic illnesses.”

While Capitec Bank and Old Mutual personnel offered financial advice and helped staff plan for the future.
