Bringing warmth to shelter animals

West Pack Lifestyle The Reef and Pet Zone The Reef donate beds to the Germiston SPCA.

Dogs at the Germiston SPCA received a warm surprise recently when they were visited by representatives from West Pack Lifestyle The Reef and Pet Zone The Reef with a truck load of beds.

The beds, worth almost R20 000, could not be sold, so instead of sending them back to the supplier, the store brought some warmth to animals in need.

Approximately 40 beds in all sizes were donated to the SPCA.

“We are new in the area and want to connect with the community,” said Roxzanne van Eyk, the social media manager for West Pack Lifestyle.

“We know the Germiston community loves animals and as we had the beds we immediately thought of the Germiston SPCA.”

Roxzanne said there are so many creative and cost-effective ways you can assist animals with beds if you want to donate.

“We sell 90-litre oval basins and if you cut off the front, this makes a perfect dog bed,” she said.

“You can then just place a budget blanket, also sold at the stores, in it and shelter animals will be warm and cosy.”

She added that the store is looking for more ways to help animal shelters in the area.
