Two arrested for allegedly dealing in drugs

The EMPD DEU made two more arrests for drug dealing.

Members of the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) patrolling in Katlehong, Thokoza and Vosloorus apprehended two suspects allegedly in possession of narcotics.

The arrests took place last Saturday between 1pm and 2pm in Katlehong and Vosloorus.

Acting on a tip-off from a fellow citizen, DEU members raided a house on Sudan Street in Katlehong.

They found a 51-year-old woman allegedly in possession of seven small- and medium-sized knotted plastic bags containing Kat valued at R5 300.

She was apprehended and taken to the Katlehong Police Station.

Meanwhile, in Vosloorus Extension Three a suspicious-looking 25-year old male loitering at the intersection of Isihlolono and Umphathi roads was stopped and searched.

Officers allegedly uncovered 17 ziplock bags of Kat and five ziplock bags of crystal meth valued at R5 000 in the man’s possession.

He was taken to the Vosloorus Police Station.

Both suspects are facing charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances.

The woman will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court and the man in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court.
