Eleven nabbed for various offences

Katlehong SAPS arrests 11 suspects in daily crime prevention operations.

In a continued effort to curb crime in their precinct, the Katlehong SAPS held several crime prevention operations last Tuesday.

The operations, which included patrols and stop-and-searches, were carried out by officers from the Katlehong police Crime Prevention Unit and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station, and led to the arrest of 11 suspects.

The suspects were charged with various offences.

Charges included:

• Possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition: 3

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 2

• Common assault: 2

• Possession of suspected stolen property: 1

• Shoplifting: 1

• Warrant of arrest: 1

• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 1

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Katlehong SAPS station commander Brig Sammy Thambo encouraged the community to help in the fight against crime and report illegal activities.
